Virgin Atlantic Flight Bookings Increase As Over 50s Plan “Vax Vacations”
Virgin Atlantic international flights to the Caribbean have seen a surge in both summer and winter 2021 enquiries.
A recent survey by YouGov suggested a big decrease, among Britons over the age of 55, in travel between 2019 and 2020. However, the accelerated roll-out of the UK vaccination programme, to older age groups, appears to have reversed this trend. Several travel companies have reported a sudden increase in reservations, from the over 50s, for what has been dubbed “Vax Vacations”.
Data compiled by Reward Flight Finder shows that searches for Virgin Atlantic international flights to Antigua, Barbados, Cuba and Jamaica have risen dramatically since reports circulated that all Brits over 50 could be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Spring 2021.
Regardless of what happens with vaccinations, now could be an excellent time to make a Virgin Atlantic flight booking, as the airline has recently launched a raft of new incentives for passengers.
When you make a Virgin Atlantic flight booking, scheduled for travel up to 31 December 2021, you can make up to two date changes and one name change free of charge. If you change your plans, the airline will waive any difference in airfare, so long as your rebooked flights are taken by 31 March 2021. If you need a little longer, you can reschedule to fly any time up to 31 December 2022. Plus you’ll get free coronavirus insurance cover, worth up to £500,000, via Allianz.
At the moment, Virgin Atlantic is running a 30% off flight sale. Furthermore, passengers can get an extra £20 off economy class tickets to the Caribbean, on top of sale price reductions, when they use the discount code SUNNY.
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members who book their flights by 2 February 2021 will also receive a 50% bonus on both Virgin Points and Tier points, even if they book the ticket as a reward flight. In fact, Virgin Atlantic has recently announced that Flying Club members will be able to earn Tier Points on all their reward flights.
Virgin Atlantic is now the exclusive airline partner of the Tesco Clubcard loyalty scheme. Flying Club members can get a 2,000 Virgin Points bonus, the first time they auto-exchange Clubcard Vouchers for Virgin Points.
Whilst Virgin Atlantic is operating a reduced schedule at the moment, they plan to operate more flights from summer 2021, by which time the UK lockdown will hopefully have ended. Virgin Atlantic Reward flight availability is excellent at the moment, to all destinations.
One of the great things about Virgin Atlantic reward flight availability is that the airline only operates large jets on long-haul routes. With corporate travel at its lowest level in decades, reward seats are easier to come by, as the airline has a lot of seats to fill. However, that’s likely to change when large numbers of newly vaccinated Brits release their pent up demand for overseas holidays. So now might be a good time to make a reward flight reservation on Virgin Atlantic.
